Environmental Incident Reported in McKenzie County
BISMARCK, ND - Select Water Solutions LLC notified the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division of a tank battery explosion and fire at the Rink SWD 2 site in McKenzie County. The incident occurred on December 29, approx. 15 miles east of Watford City.
Select Water Solutions LLC reported that 4000 barrels of produced water released onto location from a fire on December 29, 2025.
A North Dakota Oil and Gas inspector has been to the location and will monitor any additional cleanup required.
Federal and state laws require operators to report the spillage of any materials that may pollute water, air or soil. Visit spill.nd.gov for more information about North Dakota's Unified Spill Reporting System notifications and the public access tool.
