Beginning Monday March 16th, at 8:00 am, we will be grinding and paving NE 60th Ave from NE Halsey to NE Holliday. This schedule will depend on the forecasted weather remaining warm and dry.

During paving on Monday 3/16 and Tuesday 3/17:

  • Southbound vehicle travel on NE 60th will remain open.
Please drive safely and follow all directions from flaggers and signage.
  • Driveway Access and On-Street Parking
In and out access to driveways on NE 60th between NE Halsey and NE Holladay will be closed between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. On-street parking will not be permitted on NE 60th between NE Halsey and NE Holladay. We apologize for the inconvenience and we will work to have your driveway access restored as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during paving. If you have any special needs or concerns, please contact our on-site superintendent listed below.

When will 60th Ave northbound travel reopen?

After paving is complete, the southeast corner of NE 60th and Halsey needs to be fully completed. The remaining tasks are:

  • Finish repairing the underground water vault under the street.
  • Installing the new traffic signal pole and activating the signal.
  • Removing the old pole and signal, and transferring communication lines
  • Completing the sidewalk concrete pour and restoring pedestrian access to the sidewalk.

Once these tasks are complete we can reopen northbound traffic for good!

Why is this closure lasting so long?

During excavation, crews made an unexpected discovery: a very old and large brick water vault against the curb at the southeast corner of NE 60th Avenue and NE Halsey Street. Inside this water vault was an aging gate valve that Portland Water Bureau needs to address. This water vault was not in existing street plans and was unknown until this project.

Could NE 61st be paved next week?

We are working with PBOT's pavement team to request additional paving resources for this area in the coming summers. Paving funds are limited and prioritized citywide, but we are actively calling attention to this area.

Businesses Remain Open During Construction!

Even as work continues around NE 60th and Halsey Street, your local businesses are still open and ready to welcome you. Check them out!
