McCombie Stands Against $1.9 Billion Tax Grab

October 29, 2025

Today, Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie took a stand against the latest push by House Democrats to fund public transit in the state.

The most recent proposal under SB2111 includes the following tax hikes:

  • 7% amusement tax including concerts, streaming like netflix and hulu
  • RTA sales tax increase at 0.25%
  • Billionaire tax at 4.95%
  • $5 large event ticket charge
  • More speed cameras in "safety" zones like churches and schools

"It's the same old tax-and-spend playbook from Illinois Democrats, and it's about to make life a lot more expensive for families across our state," said Leader McCombie.

McCombie and House Republicans are standing firm-no more taxes without real reform.
