Three councilmembers to host town hall on June 22, 2026

Attend to learn more about the Sooner Mall Tax Rebate Proposal

Councilmembers Robert Bruce, Ward 3; Josh Hinkle, Ward 6; and Scott Dixon, Ward 8 will host a Town Hall on the Sooner Mall Tax Rebate Proposal next week. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on 6/22/26 at Norman City Council, 201 W. Gray, and all are welcome to attend.

During the event, attendees will hear an informational presentation by City staff and have the opportunity to ask questions with Sooner Mall General Manager Derick Colwell present.

"I wanted to host this conversation to provide residents with full transparency and full details on the proposal," said Councilmember Dixon. "Sharing knowledge to ensure everyone is well informed ahead of an item that City Council is slated to vote on is very important. We are looking forward to this educational event and encourage anyone interested to come join us."

The town hall will be livestreamed at Youtube.com/@CityOfNormanOK for those who cannot attend.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The rebate proposal has been discussed with community boards and City Council, with the latest occurring on June 9, 2026 (Item #23). A recording of the presentation given by the Legal Department of the City of Norman, and following discussion, can be found at Youtube.com (beginning around 1:30). An item regarding the rebate proposal is set to reappear on the City Council agenda on June 23, 2026. Discussion on the proposal will also take place at a City Council Study Session on June 16, 2026.
