Milica Jelača Jovanović performs with Bellingham Music Club October 7 and 9

Pianist Milica Jelača Jovanović

WWU Professor of Piano Milica Jelača Jovanović presents romantic piano masterpieces by Scriabin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, music by pioneering women composers Clara Wieck and Florence Price, and contemporary works by Serbian composers as part of the Bellingham Music Club's 111th season.

The performances are at First Congregational Church, 2401 Cornwall in Bellingham on Wednesday, October 7, at 10:30 a.m. and Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. No tickets are needed. Students are always free, and donations are accepted at the door.

A graduate of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, critics have described Jovanović's performances as "extraordinary" and "poetic," and called her a "pianist of great energy and charisma".

BMC presents local musicians and professional artists, including WWU Music Department faculty and Bellingham Symphony Orchestra members, and also performers based elsewhere in the U.S. or Canada touring the region.

BMC supports young musicians by sponsoring awards in various instruments and voice. They grant monetary awards to students who demonstrate talent, perseverance and fine musicianship, including WWU Music students.
