Ministry of Health honors UNESCO’s initiative for leadership in school health

UNESCO has been recognized by the Ministry of Health for its outstanding contribution to advancing student health and well-being across Tanzania. The recognition was presented by Dr. Otilia Gowele, Director of Preventive Services, during the Ministry's Technical Advisory Meeting held in Morogoro from 26 to 27 June 2026.

The award acknowledges UNESCO's leadership in strengthening national and school systems that support the health, safety, and well-being of young people. Through sustained technical and financial support, UNESCO has worked with government institutions and partners to improve how schools address issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV, and gender-based violence (GBV), equipping learners with the knowledge and support they need to thrive and improve their educational outcomes.
