On 16 September 2026, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Ahmad Saidmurodzoda took part, via videoconference, in the Tenth Forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in North and Central Asia.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, the Deputy Secretary-General emphasised that the implementation of all SDGs remains a priority for the SCO Member States, as reflected in the relevant provisions of the declarations of the Council of Heads of State of the Organisation. A. Saidmurodzoda noted the approach of the SCO Member States to poverty eradication, accompanied by parallel efforts to ensure economic growth and address the issues in the areas of education, healthcare, social protection and employment, as well as to combating climate change and protecting the environment.
The participants were briefed on the outcomes of the SCO Forum on Sustainable Development, held in Moscow on 17 November 2025, as well as on the activities of the Special Working Group of the SCO Member States on Poverty Alleviation and other mechanisms of cooperation of the Organisation whose agendas include issues related to the implementation of the SDGs.
