Oregon DMV announces closure of its Canyonville office

Nov. 5, 2026

CANYONVILLE - The Canyonville DMV at 241 NE Main St. will permanently close effective Wednesday, Nov. 18.

The Canyonville DMV is a small, two-person office and both positions are currently vacant. In July, the office went from being open three days a week to one with limited hours. It is being staffed by employees borrowed from the Roseburg DMV.

"Our lease in Canyonville is expiring, and we took a hard look to decide if keeping the office was the best use of resources," said Oregon DMV Field Services Manager David McKay. "Demands on DMV have grown considerably over the past 25 years, yet staffing has remained largely unchanged. That's created a staffing shortage that affects the level of service DMV can provide statewide. Closing Canyonville ensures more stability in staffing to serve customers across the region."

Canyonville is 26 miles from the Roseburg DMV. That office will continue to serve the community five days a week. Class C drive tests are offered by a third-party tester in Roseburg.

DMV has added more than 30 online transactions to DMV2U since establishing the platform in 2019, greatly reducing the need to go to an office. Going online saves the customer a trip and shortens waits for those who must complete their transaction in person. Customers are encouraged to always check the DMV website before visiting any office to confirm it is open.
