HARRISBURG - Carbon County municipalities were recently awarded nearly $940,000 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) to improve local roadways, according to Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-122) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-29).
"Repairing bridges and roads is about more than convenience; it's about safety," Heffley said. "When a bridge is out, it can delay first responders, school transportation and everyday travel for families. I'm glad to have worked to secure this funding."
"Improved roads and streetscapes are key to breathing new life into our older downtowns," Argall said. "I am pleased these local communities were awarded this highly sought-after funding to support economic development and improve safety for residents and visitors."
Projects that received grants include:
The MTF, created by the General Assembly, provides funding to encourage economic development and a safe, reliable system of transportation to residents of Pennsylvania. The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers many of Pennsylvania's economic development and community improvement programs.
