Call for existing sculptures: One-year exhibition at City Hall

The City of San Rafael and San Rafael Arts invite artists and artist teams to apply for a one-year sculpture exhibition at San Rafael City Hall.

We are seeking an existing medium- or large-scale sculpture to be featured prominently at the front entrance from August 2027 to August 2028. Artists located in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington are eligible to apply.

This initiative is part of downtown San Rafael's designation as a California Cultural District, made possible by a generous grant from the California Arts Council to support the community's arts and culture offerings.

Exhibition opportunity details:

• Location: San Rafael City Hall Front Entrance
• Artist stipend: $5,000 - $7,000 (inclusive of structural engineering, transportation, installation, insurance, routine maintenance, and removal)
• Submission deadline: November 20, 2026, at 11:59pm PT (Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis; artists are encouraged to apply early)
