(Mankato, MN) Tailwind Group is pleased to announce Demi Sterling-Kinney as Chief Operating Officer.
Sterling-Kinney brings more than 20 years of experience in student housing and multifamily operations, with expertise in property management, asset management, development, and corporate leadership, and a proven track record of building high-performing teams and scalable operating platforms.
We are excited to welcome Demi to Tailwind Group," said Brandon Smith, President and CEO of Tailwind Group. "Her depth of experience, operational expertise, and builder mentality make her an incredible addition to our leadership team. As Tailwind Group continues to grow and evolve, Demi's ability to build strong teams, systems, and operating platforms will be invaluable. Most importantly, Demi's leadership philosophy aligns with Tailwind's mission and values. She understands that performance starts with investing in people and putting them in the seats where they can do their best work."
Sterling-Kinney joins Tailwind from TI Communities, where she served as President. She previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Alden Street Capital. Before joining Alden Street Capital, Sterling-Kinney spent nearly a decade at Aspen Heights Partners, where she served as Executive Vice President of Operations. During her tenure, she helped build a scalable property management platform that supported a cumulative national portfolio of 70 assets, 13,000 units, and approximately 36,000 beds. Her career has also included leadership roles at American Campus Communities, CWS Capital Partners, and United Apartment Group, as well as co-founding Turnable, a student housing technology company.
"I was drawn to Tailwind because of the alignment I felt with its leadership style and culture," said Sterling-Kinney. "I'm excited to join an organization that continues to grow and evolve while staying focused on its people. I'm looking forward to getting to know the Tailwind team, learning more about its communities, and working alongside the people who are helping shape the company's future."
As Chief Operating Officer, Sterling-Kinney will help lead Tailwind Group's operations and support the company as it continues to scale its people, systems, and organizational structure. Her experience building operating platforms and developing teams will support Tailwind's continued growth and long-term vision.
"In her first month with Tailwind, Demi has already demonstrated the leadership, operational expertise, and collaborative approach that made her such a strong and compelling fit on our team," said Smith. "She has very quickly become a trusted partner to our executive team and has helped us sharpen our focus around culture, people, processes, and scalable growth. We're even more excited about the future today than we were when she joined."
