Lakewood's annual College Fair is Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Centre, 5000 Clark Ave.

No pre-registration needed, and all are welcome!

Parents and students (ages 15-22) can meet college representatives, pick up brochures and get the information needed for the admissions process.

All students in attendance on Oct. 13 are eligible to win a $250 scholarship.

Free parent/teen college information sessions

As part of College Fair week, two sessions will be held at the Lakewood Youth Center on Oct. 14 and Oct. 20.

Parents and teens can sign up for either--or both--of the free presentations to help with the college admissions process:

COLLEGE INFORMATION: Important Changes in the College Prep, Application & Enrollment Requirements Workshop - Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m.

The workshop is designed for parents and students and is led by John H. Wilson III of Deacon Education & Advancement Collaborative, a leading nonprofit independent authority on affordable college options for families and career guidance for students.

Topics include:

  • Preparing for college: Academic preparation, choosing a college based on fit, function and value, and updates on the SAT and ACT
  • College costs and financial aid: Major changes to college loans and financial aid as of July 1, 2026, what families can expect to pay by college type, and paying for selective private colleges
  • College, careers and return on investment: The connection between college and careers in STEM and non-STEM fields, the importance of ROI and why students need to understand it
  • Finding strong college options: 10 colleges your student should consider that may not be on your radar, including colleges offering strong ROI
  • Q & A segment

  • How to get ahead by developing a customized plan to meet all the college costs you will incur as a family.
  • How to send your child to an expensive private university for less than a state school.
