Ascension Seton Foundation Receives Donation from H-E-B to Accelerate Women’s Health in Central Texas

"We deeply appreciate H-E-B's commitment and substantial donation. This support is vital for driving forward essential maternal and women's healthcare services across Central Texas. This critical funding will allow us to expand access to life-saving prenatal and postnatal care, directly enhancing our shared goal of promoting community health and ensuring healthier outcomes for women in all stages of their lives," said Joel Rice, Executive Director of the Ascension Seton Foundation.

As Austin prepares for the opening of its newest dedicated women's hospital, this partnership highlights the critical link between nutrition and recovery. This gift accelerates the "Food is the Best Medicine" program, which addresses the link between nutrition and health, a vital factor in reducing maternal mortality and morbidity.

"H-E-B is honored to partner with the Ascension Seton Foundation to provide critical support to the new Women's Hospital," said Heidi Post, Director of H-E-B Public Affairs. "As Texans helping Texans, we are especially grateful for the opportunity to ensure our youngest Texans are welcomed in a safe and nurturing environment."

Opening in Spring 2026, the Ascension Seton Women's Hospital will be the city's newest hospital exclusively for women and their newborns. Located on the Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin campus, the 326,000-square-foot, 178-bed facility will serve families in Austin and across Central Texas.

What to Expect:

  • Level IV Perinatal Center for the most complex maternal conditions and a 14-bed dedicated women's emergency department.
  • Two floors of dedicated Level III NICU space with a direct link to Level IV NICU care at the nearby Dell Children's central campus.
  • Four operating rooms, including two equipped with state-of-the-art robots for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
  • Private, spacious NICU rooms, designated low-intervention birth suites with labor tubs, and luxurious recovery suites.

We can arrange an interview with Joel Rice to discuss why H-E-B's contribution is a boost to Ascension's mission to improve maternal health in Central Texas.
