Piedmont Newton welcomes sleep medicine specialist Kunal Agarwal, MD

Covington, Ga. (October 7, 2026) - Piedmont Newton is pleased to welcome Kunal Agarwal, MD, to Piedmont Physicians Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine of Newton. Dr. Agarwal is triple board certified in sleep medicine, obesity medicine, and family medicine. He has extensive experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of sleep disorders.

Dr. Agarwal cares for patients with obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, other sleep-related breathing disorders, and restless legs syndrome. His training in obesity medicine allows him to address sleep apnea and excess weight together since the conditions are closely linked. In addition to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), Dr. Agarwal offers newer therapies for both sleep apnea and restless legs syndrome.

"Poor sleep affects nearly every part of a person's health, from heart health and blood sugar to mood and energy," Dr. Agarwal said. "Many people live with sleep problems for years without realizing how treatable they are. My goal is to find the cause and build a plan that fits each patient's life."

Before joining Piedmont Newton, Dr. Agarwal was medical director of TidalHealth Sleep Disorders Centers in Lewes, Del., where he led the sleep program's successful accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). He serves on the board of the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation and is a fellow of AASM, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Obesity Medicine Association.

Dr. Agarwal earned his bachelor's degree in neuroscience with honors from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed a family medicine residency at Western Michigan University School of Medicine and a sleep medicine fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit
