Greater Alarm Structure Fire in Downtown Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES - A fire broke out early Saturday morning in an industrial area of Downtown Los Angeles. Firefighters were met with a fully engulfed auto fire which exposed and entered an unoccupied commercial building.

At 6:25 AM on October 25, 2025, the Los Angeles City Fire Departmentresponded to a reported auto fire at 1010 S. Hooper Av. Units were dispatched to an auto fire with initial reports of a person inside the vehicle. The first arriving engine quickly upgraded the incident to a structure fire, due to the auto being well involved and impinging a 1 story 75' x 100' metal clad commercial building.

The occupant of the vehicle was located a safe distance away from the fire, but did sustain minor burns to their hand and leg and was transported to a local trauma center hospital.

Under the command of Battalion Chief Brian Franco, 41 firefighters took an aggressive offensive posture and extinguished the blaze in approximately 35 minutes. Due to the extent of damage, Los Angeles Department of Building and Safetyand DWPwere requested to assist in determining the safety and viability of the compromised structure. LAFD Arson units were also attached due to the injured civilian and origin of the fire. Multiple fire companies, including the first responding engine, remained on scene for 4 hours to complete overhaul procedures while ensuring thorough extinguishment.
