Crime Map and Updates

Welcome to our crime map. You can search by address, date range, case number, or specific crime type. The map includes serious felony crimes, vehicle prowls, thefts (except shoplifting), and arrests beginning in Nov. 2020. Click on icons for more detail. Addresses listed are rounded to the hundred block. For a complete list of case reports, visit olympiawa.gov/p2c.

Notable Trends

  • Officers arrested the suspect in the aggravated assault reported. The suspect was repeatedly knocking on a neighbor's door, who texted the victim for help. When the victim approached, the suspect pulled a knife and slashed at him, striking his face.
  • One robbery reported where the suspect grabbed the victim's purse off her shoulder.
  • One attempted auto theft. One of the victims witnessed someone trying to steal their 2016 Kia Sorento. The suspect left the car running in the road. The steering column and ignition were damaged.
  • Officers arrested suspects in both commercial burglaries reported this week. In one, a witness saw the suspect break a window and enter a church. He tried to run from officers after exiting and was quickly apprehended. In the other arrest, the suspect entered through an unsecured window and was exiting when employees arrived for work. He tried fleeing right before officers arrived and complied once they blocked his path with a patrol vehicle.
  • We had fifteen vehicle prowls/vandalisms. There were seven incidents of slashed tires. One of them happened after the victim had a confrontation with three juveniles. In one prowl, security guards provided footage of the suspect from cameras. He was located by officers nearby and most of the property was recovered during the arrest.

Other Items

  • Officers responded to 1,141 calls for service this week.
  • I'm out of the office next week so no weekly update. I'll double up the following week.
  • August is National Traffic Safety Awareness month. We continue to receive numerous complaints of speeding through neighborhoods. Your cone of vision is smaller at higher speeds and you're less likely to see pedestrians or bikers. Please help keep the streets safe by slowing down, especially in neighborhoods.
  • This week's photo is part of our Walking Patrol team downtown.
