New Brunswick’s New 100-foot Aerial Fire Truck Enters Service

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (July 21, 2026) - City firefighters have debuted a state-of-the-art, 100-foot aerial ladder truck, a $1.79 million investment designed to enhance firefighter and community safety.

The 80,000-pound vehicle features advanced technology, including remote-controlled water nozzles, a decontamination shower, and a rescue basket that can be operated from the ground in emergencies. It replaces a 10-year-old truck, which will transition to a backup role.

"New Brunswick is investing in your safety," said Fire Director Chris Stellatella, noting the excitement among the department's 110 firefighters. "They're giving you the resources to do your job most effectively."

The new truck has already responded to multiple emergencies, including a residential structure fire on Delavan Street.
