Therese Kempe has been appointed CEO of online pharmacy Apohem, effective today, 17 September. She succeeds Gustav Hasselgren, who is leaving the company after seven years to take on a new CEO role.
Therese Kempe has served as Chief Marketing Officer at Apohem since 2021 and is a member of the company's management team. Over the past five years, she has played a key role in Apohem's growth and development, with broad commercial responsibility as well as an active role in shaping the company's strategy. Before joining Apohem, Therese held senior positions at Klarna and Procter & Gamble.
"Therese has played an important part in building Apohem into the company it is today and has a deep understanding of our customers, our business and our operations. The Board has carried out an extensive recruitment process, and our conclusion is clear: Therese is the right person to lead Apohem into its next phase, with a continued focus on growth and sustainable profitability. I would also like to thank Gustav for his strong contribution over the past seven years. He leaves Apohem in a very strong position," says Jonas Hedman, Chair of the Board of Apohem.
"Apohem is a company I care deeply about, and I am both very happy and proud to have been given the opportunity to lead it into its next phase. There is tremendous energy and potential in the business, not least in our people and culture. We have a strong position in the market and a clear ambition: to be our customers' first choice for pharmacy, health and beauty. I look forward to building on what Gustav and the team have achieved and continuing Apohem's growth, with a clear focus on long-term profitability," says Therese Kempe, CEO of Apohem.
Gustav Hasselgren has served as CEO of Apohem since March 2019 and has led the company's development from a challenger to an established player in the Swedish pharmacy market.
"It has been seven rewarding and enjoyable years. We have built Apohem from a small challenger into a major online pharmacy with more than one million active customers. Therese has been an important part of Apohem for a long time - she is strategic, has tremendous drive and is a strong leader. It feels both exciting and natural that she will lead Apohem into its next phase," says Gustav Hasselgren, outgoing CEO of Apohem.
Therese Kempe takes on the role of CEO today, 17 September, with a handover taking place during the autumn.
