The City of Norcross is warning residents, businesses and developers about a scam targeting individuals with active zoning and variance applications. Over the past month, at least three Norcross applicants have been contacted by scammers posing as city staff or board members.
These fraudulent emails often include official-looking logos, real staff names and board member names and project details copied from public agenda packets. The messages typically demand payment through wire transfers or fake invoices. Please note:
If you receive an email that looks suspicious, do not click on links, open attachments or send money. Instead:
The city is actively working with law enforcement to protect our community, but we need your vigilance as well. Stay alert, Norcross!
