TSUNEISHI SOLUTIONS TOKYOBAY Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “T-SOL”) has obtained Type Approval for its vessel data collection device, “Fleet Transfer,” from Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK). The approval certifies compliance with “IACS UR E27” (hereinafter “UR E27”), the Unified Requirements for Cyber Resilience established by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). This certification enables shipowners and shipyards to comply with UR E27 while reducing the need for additional security measures and complex network design.
In recent years, as cybersecurity measures for on-board systems and equipment have become essential alongside the progress of vessel DX, IACS established the unified requirement “UR E27”. This requirement is intended to ensure cyber resilience across the entire lifecycle of on-board systems and equipment, from design and development to operation and maintenance, and applies to ships contracted for construction on or after 1 July 2024.
When connecting equipment that is not compliant with UR E27, additional security devices and complex network designs may be required, creating an increased burden in terms of costs and schedules for shipyards and shipowners. With the acquisition of this Type Approval, introducing “Fleet Transfer” can reduce the need for additional security equipment and separate network design, enabling smooth installation.
