Schmidt Issues Statement on Governor's Call for Legislature to Abolish the Death Penalty

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) issued the following statement on Governor DeWine's recent press conference, calling on the Legislature to abolish the death penalty in Ohio:

"I hold my pro-life beliefs firmly, and I support the full repeal of the death penalty. The costs, both financial and emotional, are too great, and there is no truly humane way to carry out such a punishment.

I remain committed to championing efforts at the Statehouse that reflect these principles, including House Bill 72, which recognizes the inherent dignity and value of every human life at every stage."
