El Salvador man previously convicted of evading law enforcement sent to prison again

HOUSTON - A 42-year-old illegal alien residing in Houston has been sentenced for illegally reentering the country.

Roberto Ventura-Martinez pleaded guilty May 13.

U.S. District Judge George C. Hanks Jr. ordered Ventura-Martinez to serve 41 months in federal prison. As an illegal alien, he is expected to face removal proceedings following his imprisonment.

Ventura-Martinez has prior convictions for evading arrest, driving while intoxicated, domestic violence, violating probation, and illegal reentry.

Authorities first removed Ventura-Martinez from the United States in June 2007. Despite his removal, he illegally returned to the country five times. On May 25, 2024, law enforcement once again discovered him illegally present in the United States without authorization.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Enforcement and Removal Operations conducted the investigation. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Robin Whitney prosecuted the case.
