EW Grobbel, a 143-year-old Detroit-based food company best known for its corned beef, is expanding operations with a $14 million investment in St. Clair Shores. The company purchased and is renovating a 90,000-square-foot facility, including approximately $2 million in new machinery, to increase capacity and continue expanding its cooked and smoked meat production. The project is expected to create 50 new jobs.
Macomb County Planning and Economic Development worked closely with EW Grobbel throughout the expansion, helping connect the company with utility resources, grant opportunities and workforce partners. MCPED also introduced the company to Macomb Community College and Michigan Works! to explore training programs including the Michigan New Jobs Training Program, On-the-Job Training and Going PRO Talent Fund opportunities, while also helping connect the company with the local chamber for its May 15 ribbon cutting.
EW Grobbel's investment is another example of a long-standing Michigan company choosing Macomb County for its next stage of growth. If your business is considering an expansion, relocation or new investment, Macomb County Planning and Economic Development can help connect you with the resources and partners needed to move your project forward.
