Victim identified from homicide investigation in the 3500 block of North Academy Boulevard

On October 5, 2025, at approximately 1:58 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was dispatched to the 3500 block of North Academy Boulevard regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. One of the males was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other male was deceased on scene.

On October 6, 2025, the El Paso County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased male and identified him as 21-year-old Daniel Federico. While the coroner's office will determine the cause and manner of death, this is being investigated as a homicide. A photo of Mr. Federico has been provided by his family.
