Having trouble with your computer? Be cautious. You may be the target of a tech support scam-a growing crime that cost Americans over $1.3 billion in 2023, with older adults most often targeted.
How the scam starts:
You might see a pop-up warning about a virus or critical issue on your device. It may ask you to call a toll-free number, claiming to be from Microsoft, Apple, or another tech company. These fake warnings may even lead to realistic-looking websites designed to mimic real support pages.
