On April 28, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Special Envoy of the US President for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gore.
During the conversation, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two sides, including in the areas of economy and trade, investment and security.
In this regard, special attention was paid to the process of implementing the agreements reached in the "Central Asia-United States (C5+1)" format.
At the same time, the Leader of the Nation emphasized Tajikistan's commitment to the development and expansion of relations with the United States in these and other areas beneficial to the parties.
It was noted that the United States is currently among the top five investment partners of Tajikistan.
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan stressed the importance of using the opportunities within the framework of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) in the development and expansion of cooperation. Referring to the existing potential of Tajikistan in the fields of hydropower, mining and processing of minerals, light industry, food, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, it was considered in the interests of both parties to strengthen further practical cooperation in these areas.
The development of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and digitalization of the economy, the establishment of agricultural processing enterprises for export and attracting investment in these areas were considered among the promising areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The parties agreed to continue coordinating the efforts of the relevant authorities to implement these and other goals of mutual interest.
