MTA Announces Service Plan for Knicks Championship Parade

Two Subway Stations Along Parade Route Closing

Metro-North Adding Additional Morning Peak Trains

Alcohol Ban on Commuter Railroads Beginning 5 A.M. Thursday

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is detailing service plans ahead of the New York Knicks Championship parade in Lower Manhattan on Thursday, June 18. The following changes to Lower Manhattan subway service will be in effect:

New York City Transit Subways

Starting at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, the following subway stations will be closed. They will reopen following the parade and ceremony at City Hall by approximately 5:00 p.m.

  • Wall Street

  • City Hall

At the request of the NYPD, there will be some entrances and exits closed at the stations listed below, although trains will continue to stop at these stations:

  • Chambers St

  • Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall

  • Park Place

  • Fulton Center

  • Bowling Green

After the parade concludes, depending the passenger volumes, the MTA will be prepared to add additional trains on the , and lines.

New York City Transit Buses

Due to the parade route, some New York City Buses will be subject to diversions. Customers can check mta.info for service updates.

Metro-North Railroad

Metro-North Railroad is adding trains to accommodate fans heading to the parade.

On the Hudson Line, Metro-North is adding an extra train departing Greystone at 7:49 a.m., stopping at Glenwood, Yonkers, Ludlow, Riverdale, Spuyten Duyvil, and Marble Hill, and arriving in Grand Central Terminal at 8:29 a.m.

On the Harlem Line, Metro-North is adding an extra train departing North White Plains at 7:32 a.m., stopping at White Plains, Hartsdale, Scarsdale, Crestwood, and Bronxville, and arriving in Grand Central Terminal at 8:19 a.m.

On the New Haven Line, Metro-North is adding an extra train departing Stamford at 6:52 a.m., stopping at Greenwich, Port Chester, and Rye, and arriving in Grand Central Terminal at 7:53am. Seven trains will also make extra stops at stations including New Rochelle, Stamford, Rowayton, Darien and Fairfield-Black Rock between 5:47 a.m. and 7:46 a.m. to provide more capacity.

In additions, frequent Metro-North service is available all day until approximately 2 a.m. to take fans home after the parade and celebrations.

Alcohol Ban on Both Railroads

On Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road alcohol bans will be in effect on all trains and on station platforms from 5:00 a.m. Thursday, June 18, to 5:00 a.m. Friday, June 19.

Alcohol consumption and open alcoholic containers are always unauthorized throughout the subway system.
