Iowa City Fire Department responds to structure fire
The Iowa City Fire Department responded to a fire at 8:47 a.m., Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 101 McCollister Boulevard.
The fire department arrived on scene approximately five minutes after being dispatched to a report of a structure fire. Responding firefighters encountered an active fire with visible smoke.
The fire was brought under control approximately five minutes after arrival.
An occupant of the structure safely exited prior to the fire department's arrival. They were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
As a result of the investigation into this incident, Hailee M. Weaver, 31, of Iowa City, has been arrested and faces one count of First-degree Arson.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, all persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The Iowa City Fire Department was assisted by the Iowa City Police Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center, and the American Red Cross.
