The current momentum and visibility on the next steps, including a possible meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and Russia, as well as the intention of the United States to support Ukraine's security guarantees, is a positive development.
Greece, as a matter of principle, will remain committed to its fundamental position on the universal implementation of international law and the inviolability of the borders of all states. We will not favour any short-term transactional benefits to the detriment of the security architecture established in the post-war period on the basis of international law, by participating in a "geopolitical bidding war". How could we ever invoke international law as a dispute resolution tool on major national issues if we abandon it today in favour of a transactional foreign policy? Foreign policy must be based on profound knowledge and prudence. Simplistic approaches and opportunism must be avoided in foreign policy.
