MANCHESTER, NH - Today, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon visited New Hampshire as part of her Returning Education to the States Tour.
Alongside New Hampshire Commissioner of Education Caitlin Davis, Secretary McMahon began her visit at the Manchester School of Technology, where she toured the specialized woodworking, cosmetology, and aviation programs to observe how the school equips students with high-demand technical skills. Then, she visited Southside Middle School, a public school serving students in grades 5 through 8, followed by a combined tour of the campuses at St. Joseph Regional Junior High School and Trinity High School. During her time in these classrooms, Secretary McMahon observed instruction across diverse subject areas, including fine arts, English, Spanish, pre-calculus, and early college personal finance.
To conclude her visit, Secretary McMahon hosted a roundtable with parents and students to discuss how state and federal education freedom initiatives impact families. The discussion also focused on how the federal Education Freedom Tax Credit - which New Hampshire has joined - will further multiply these opportunities in the Granite State.
"At every stop on the Returning Education to the States Tour, we are seeing firsthand the impactful work happening in classrooms and communities across the country," said U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. "New Hampshire is demonstrating how states can build a more responsive education system by integrating rigorous academics, technical training, and flexible learning choices. By coupling local innovations with new federal tools like the Education Freedom Tax Credit, we are empowering families to bridge the gap between traditional instruction and personalized models, ensuring more students have the resources to meet their full potential."
