State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Sorin-Dan Moldovan, paid an official visit to the Republic of Moldova, at the invitation of his Moldovan counterpart, Ghenadie Cojocaru, between January 14 and 16, 2026.
The visit's agenda also included meetings with the Minister of Defence, Anatolie Nosatîi, the Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Moldova, Anca Dragu, the Presidential Advisor on National Security and Defence Issues, Stanislav Secrieru, the Chair of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Lilian Carp, and the Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau, Michaela Guerard-Simak.
The discussions aimed at enhancing the political-military dialogue, bilateral cooperation in the field of defence and security, coordination on the European and Euro-Atlantic agenda, as well as security developments in the region. At the same time, topics regarding institutional resilience, economic security and support for the European accession of the Republic of Moldova were addressed. The Romanian delegation also stressed the importance of security for the economic development of the Republic of Moldova during the discussions held at the National Bank of Moldova.
Beyond the official formats and institutional agenda, the Romania-Republic of Moldova relationship remains one built on trust, commitment and a natural dialogue between partners who share not only strategic interests, but also a common responsibility for the future of the region.
Bilateral cooperation is active, practical and results-oriented, where support is translated into concrete actions.
The visit reconfirms the Romanian party's commitment to the strategic partnership with the Republic of Moldova, in the spirit of common values and close cooperation for regional stability and security.
