TCDRS Elects Chair and Vice Chair

The Board of Trustees of the Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS) elected the Honorable Deborah Hunt, retired Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector, as its new Chair of the Board, effective immediately. The board also elected the Honorable Chris Davis, County Judge for Cherokee County, as new vice chair.

Both elections took place at the Board's December 11, 2025, meeting.

Deborah Hunt was first appointed to the TCDRS Board of Trustees in 2013 by then-Governor Rick Perry, and reappointed to the board by Governor Greg Abbott in 2022. She has served as the vice chair of the TCDRS Board of Trustees since 2020.

Prior to joining the board, Hunt served for 20 years as the Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector and is a former member and chair of the Williamson Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. Prior to these positions, Hunt served as a justice of the peace and magistrate for Williamson County. Hunt is also a former member of the Tax Assessor/Collectors Association of Texas, International and Texas Associations of Assessing Officers, Texas Association of Appraisal Districts, Williamson County Investment Committee and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Registration and Titling Advisory Committee. Additionally, she is a former member of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Property Tax Advisory Committee and the North Austin Woman's Club. Hunt attended Trenton State College, now the College of New Jersey.

"TCDRS plays a vital role in helping counties and districts deliver retirement benefits in a responsible, sustainable way," Hunt said. "As chair, I look forward to working with my fellow trustees to continue protecting the system's long-term financial strength and the trust of those we serve."

Chris Davis of Alto is the County Judge for Cherokee County. He previously served as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2 and Municipal Court Judge for the City of Alto. Davis is a member of the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas, a board member of the East Texas Regional Water Planning Group and the East Texas Council of Governments, and a former member of the East Texas Regional Review Committee. He was appointed to the TCDRS Board of Trustees by Governor Greg Abbott in 2016 and was reappointed in 2022. Davis received a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences and a Master of Public Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University.

"TCDRS is respected across Texas for its disciplined approach to funding and governance," Davis said. "The board provides steady oversight that helps counties and districts meet their commitments to employees and retirees, and I'm honored to serve in this leadership role."

Trustees on TCDRS' nine-member board serve staggered six-year terms. The board is comprised of system members and retirees who are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Texas Senate. The board has oversight of all system operations, including the annual budget, policy determination, legislative proposals and investment policy.
