H.E. Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, will pay an official visit to Thailand as Guest of the Royal Thai Government, on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, to attend the 5th Thailand - Singapore Leaders' Retreat, at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister.
This visit marks the first Leaders' Retreat in 11 years, following the most recent meeting in 2015, and builds upon the Prime Minister's official visit to the Republic of Singapore on 7 November 2025, as well as the bilateral meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in the Republic of the Philippines on 8 May 2026.
The discussions will cover a forward-looking strategic partnership in the following areas: (1) a green and sustainable partnership; (2) an interconnected and resilient economy; (3) enhanced defence and security cooperation; and, (4) closer coordination on regional issues. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss and lay the groundwork for cooperation ahead of the two countries' consecutive terms as ASEAN Chair, with Singapore assuming Chairship in 2027 and Thailand in 2028.
Thailand and Singapore commemorated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025. Singapore has been the largest foreign investor in Thailand for three consecutive years and the largest investor from ASEAN for over a decade.
