Ernst Names Small Business of the Week, North Lumber & Home Center

RED OAK, Iowa - U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: North Lumber & Home Center of Decatur County. Throughout the 119th Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in each of Iowa's 99 counties.

"North Lumber & Home Center has truly gotten to the root of what it means to be a hardworking, dedicated small business" said Chair Ernst. "For more than four decades, this family-owned and operated business has continued to branch out by providing quality services and staying actively engaged in its community."

In 1980, current owner Sally Dykes and her family purchased North Lumber. As the family continued to expand their inventory and operations to better serve its customers, they renamed the business to North Lumber & Home Center. In 2002, they opened a second store in Lamoni, Iowa. Today, Sally continues to run the lumberyard and building materials supplier business alongside her son, Tony Dykes.
