REP. CORREA PRESENTS $500,000 IN FEDERAL FUNDING TO REVITALIZE ORANGE COUNTY RIVERWALK

Funding is part of nearly $3.4 million Rep. Correa has secured in total for the project

ORANGE, CA - Today, U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) presented a check for $500,000 in federal funding to the City of Orange to revitalize the natural landscape, improve biodiversity, and create shaded, green spaces in the Orange County Riverwalk area.

"For decades, I've fought to protect and expand green space along the Santa Ana River, going back to when I authored the legislation that created the Santa Ana River Conservancy as a state senator," said Rep. Correa. "This funding will help restore the Riverwalk's natural landscape, bring back habitat for local wildlife, and give Orange County families a healthier, greener place to enjoy the outdoors."

"We are deeply grateful to Congressman Correa for once again coming through for Orange. The OC Riverwalk is not just a win for our natural environment, but it's a win for Orange's business climate, putting Orange on a path to a financially secure future," said Mayor Dan Slater.

"The planned improvements as part of the OC River Walk project will be transformative for the Santa Ana River corridor and will serve as a cornerstone for new economic development in west Orange," said Public Works Director Christopher Cash.

The funding will plant drought-tolerant native species, restore habitat for birds and pollinators, and manage stormwater naturally, ultimately reducing erosion and flood risk while lowering long-term maintenance and climate adaptation costs. The project is also expected to improve air quality, reduce urban heat, and create shaded green space that supports outdoor recreation, tourism, and small businesses along the corridor.

Rep. Correa secured funds for this project through the FY26 community project funding process, during which the congressman secured $14.4 million for CA-46 projects.
