Police Make Arrest in Hockey Stick Assault; Detectives Looking for Second Person of Interest

BOULDER, Colo. - The Boulder Police Department has arrested a man in connection to an assault with a hockey stick that occurred last week.

Just after 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, officers were called to the 2700 block of Baseline Road after an adult male reported he was assaulted by an unknown male on roller blades. The victim said he was riding his bike when the unknown man said something to him and hit him with the hockey stick. The victim was not seriously injured and declined medical treatment.
Detectives have been following up on numerous leads in this case and this morning that led them to a possible suspect in Arvada. With the assistance of Arvada Police and the FBI, Boulder Police detectives arrested and charged Taylor James Rose, 36, of Arvada, with one felony count of second-degree assault. He was booked into the Boulder County jail. Booking photos can be obtained from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. As in every criminal case, these charges are an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
Detectives are also looking for a second person of interest in connection to this investigation. Shortly before the assault took place, the male in the photos below was seen rollerblading on the University of Colorado Boulder campus in close proximity to Rose while posting flyers.
The Boulder Police Department greatly appreciates the community's cooperation and tips, which combined with good policework, helped lead to this arrest.
To protect the integrity of this active investigation and future prosecution, the Boulder Police Department is unable to release more specifics at this time. Our main goal at the moment is to identify this person of interest and any witnesses to this crime.
