Congressman Tim Moore Announces Over $871 Million in Federal Funding for Hurricane Helene Recovery Across North Carolina

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) announced more than $871 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for Hurricane Helene recovery across North Carolina, including the 14th Congressional District. Funding will go to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), U.S. Forest Service, and Eastern Federal Lands Division to support critical highway and transportation system repairs.

"The impact of Hurricane Helene is still being felt today, and now over $871 million is headed to North Carolina to help address this lasting damage," said Congressman Moore. "From repairing highways like I-40 to rebuilding the roads in our national forests, these dollars will help restore the critical transportation infrastructure our communities depend on. I appreciate the Administration and the folks at DOT for helping ensure Western North Carolina's recovery keeps moving forward."

$858,000,000 will go to the North Carolina Department of Transportation to restore damaged areas of the federal highway system, including I-40, following Hurricane Helene. Numerous areas throughout the state experienced significant damage including flash flooding, landslides, rock fall, washouts, pipe blowouts, undermining, scour, bridge collapse, and downed trees. This funding will restore North Carolina federal highway systems to pre-disaster condition.

$13,250,000 will go to the Eastern Federal Lands Division and the U.S. Forest Service to repair North Carolina National Forests transportation systems that were affected by Hurricane Helene. This funding will support the full restoration of roadbeds and bridges, landslides and debris blocked roads, and culverts.
