Leader Schumer Statement On D.C. District Court Decision Upholding Voting Right Laws

New York, N.Y. - Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement following the D.C. District Court's decision to block President Trump's executive order demanding proof-of-citizenship on voter registration forms.

"The D.C. District Court ruling is a major victory for our democracy. Democrats took Trump to court to protect fundamental voting rights and we won.

"This judgement makes clear that the Trump administration's executive order to disenfranchise voters by limiting access to the ballot box is unconstitutional. Democrats will keep fighting to do all we can to make sure the ability to choose our elected officials remains with the people and elected officials don't get to choose their voters."
