By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
WHEREAS, school bullying remains a significant concern affecting students in schools and communities across Virginia and the nation; and
WHEREAS, bullying can take many forms, including verbal, physical, social, and electronic conduct, and may occur both on and off school grounds; and
WHEREAS, preventing bullying requires the collective efforts of students, families, educators, school administrators, community leaders, and policymakers working together to promote safe and respectful learning environments; and
WHEREAS, increasing awareness, encouraging open dialogue, and promoting prevention and intervention strategies are essential steps in addressing bullying and supporting student success; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) has developed resources to assist school divisions in promoting positive behaviors, preventing bullying, and creating supportive school communities;
WHEREAS, Virginia's public schools are committed to fostering school climates that support student well-being, encourage positive relationships, and ensure that all students feel safe, valued, and respected;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize October 2026 as BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
