Dentons Lee, in collaboration with its partner firm Dentons Rodyk from Singapore successfully completed "The Right Dispute Resolution Tools for the Best Outcomes" seminar on 30 October 2025 along with the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB) as part of the Seoul ADR Festival 2025. The event is a global forum for corporate in-house counsel and dispute resolution professionals including participants from the business community to converge in Seoul, South Korea to share, discuss and learn about trends, strategies and developments regarding alternative dispute resolution Dentons Lee has been an active participant at the Seoul ADR Festival week for the past three years covering various topics such as dispute resolution options, valuation and others.
The expert speakers and panelists at the seminar offered explored effective strategies and tools for resolving business disputes efficiently in an ever increasing world of complex disputes in the corporate environment. It covered practical approaches for achieving meaningful resolutions
through arbitration and mediation while maintaining trust and business relationships beyond litigation. The experts also de-mystified and explained how mediation can be used as a preliminary dispute resolution tool to bring parties together for an amicable settlement prior to more formal dispute resolution forums.
Ms. Pui-Ki Emmanuelle Ta, Secretary-General of KCAB International made opening remarks regarding the state of dispute resolution in South Korea and around the world followed by presentations by Mr. Jung-Kyum Kim, Senior Attorney at Dentons Lee who presented a comparative analysis of the pros and cons of litigation versus arbitration along with appropriate escalation clauses; Ms. Youngshin Um, Senior Counsel at KCAB International shared how the KCAB can support the commercial community in arbitration and in mediation cases; and Mr. Melvin See, Senior Partner at Dentons Rodyk provided a detailed overview on mediation, its mechanics and procedures and potential outcomes.
Mr. Kurt Gerstner, Senior Attorney at Dentons Lee, with attorneys Kia Jeng Koh, Melissa Thng, Jen Wei Loh and again with Melvin See from Dentons Rodyk, provided practical insights and experience on utilizing arbitration and mediation procedures in international disputes. The seminar concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Michele Sonen, Head of APAC at Jus Mundi, who emphasized the growing importance of arbitration and its future development with advancing tools and technologies including AI as part of dispute resolution tools.
