Illegal Alien Sentenced for Unlawful Reentry

BOSTON - An Ecuadorian national unlawfully residing in Milford, Mass. has been sentenced in federal court in Worcester for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. The defendant was previously deported from the United States and arrested several times for driving under the influence in Massachusetts.

Luis Rolando Clavijo Tacuri, 32, was sentenced on Oct. 20, 2026 by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman to time served (85 days). The defendant is now subject to deportation proceedings. The government recommended a sentence of seven months in prison. In September 2026, Tacuri pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. Tacuri was charged in August 2026.

Tacuri was first encountered by immigration officials in October 2015, while he was incarcerated on charges of operating under the influence in Holliston, Mass. At the time, it was Tacuri's third operating under the influence offense. Tacuri was subsequently placed into removal proceedings and deported to Ecuador in December 2016.

Sometime after his removal, Tacuri illegally reentered the United States. On May 27, 2024, Tacuri was encountered by law enforcement in Milford, Mass.

Wesling, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan O'Shea of the Worcester Branch Office prosecuted the case.
