CEEO hosts events to close out Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The University of New Mexico's Office of Compliance, Ethics & Equal Opportunity (CEEO) closes out Domestic Violence Awareness Month with several events designed to raise awareness about domestic violence.

The CEEO is committed to fostering a safe, respectful campus where every Lobo can learn, work, and thrive free from violence and stands with survivors. The office helps individuals understand options and connect with support.

The CEEO hosts events over the course of the next couple of weeks starting with the Homecoming volleyball game on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. when UNM hosts San Jose State at The Pit-Powered by Nusenda.

On Saturday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m., join CEEO at its tailgating table at the UNM Homecoming football game tailgate lot near Louie Lane, located just northeast of University Stadium. UNM hosts North Dakota State with kickoff set for 8 p.m. at University Stadium.

At both events, attendees can learn about domestic violence support resources, get free swag and take photos with the Selfie Crew, tag CEEO with #LobosAgainstDomestic Violence and get a free domestic violence awareness pin. At the football tailgate, attendees can also play cornhole.

Those events lead up to Compliance Week 2026 which is just around the corner. CEEO will kick things off in style with its Compliance Week Block Party on Monday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Cornell Mall where attendees can find food trucks, groove to music and play games.

This casual drop-in event is open to all UNM staff, faculty, students, and visitors. Come grab lunch, say hi, and start your week with a smile.

Domestic violence can affect anyone, in any relationship, and no one deserves it. Learn the signs, check in on the people you care about, and know that help is available. The CEEO wants the campus community to know that they are not alone when domestic violence issues arise.

Lastly, on Friday, Nov. 6, CEEO hosts its annual ACE Awards Reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the University Club. The ACE Awards honor staff members who demonstrate a strong commitment to UNM's values. The campus community is invited to attend and celebrate the winners.
