Uzbekistan Celebrates 35th Anniversary of State Independence

On 31 August 1991, at an extraordinary session of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR held in Tashkent, a decision to proclaim the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Law on the Foundations of State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan were adopted.

At the same time, it was established that the 1st of September would be celebrated as the country's Independence Day. In 2026, Uzbekistan marks the 35th anniversary of its state independence.

To mark the anniversary, festive, cultural and educational events are being held across the country. This year's main theme of the celebrations is: "Together, as one homeland and one people, we will build a new life and a new future!"

The 1st of September is a public holiday and a non-working day in Uzbekistan.
