On 21 April 2026, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Vidmantas Verbickas and representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation met with the Head of the Taiwanese Representative Office in Lithuania Constance H. Wang. During the meeting, the parties discussed the Economic Cooperation Action Plan.
This Lithuanian initiative has been positively received by Taiwan and is viewed as an opportunity to significantly strengthen economic cooperation.
The plan covers key areas such as high-tech and defence industries, finance, semiconductors, science and innovation, agriculture, legal and regulatory cooperation, as well as development cooperation projects in Ukraine.
Vice-Minister Verbickas underlined that the economic cooperation action plan "demonstrates a strong determination of both sides to pursue a mutually beneficial partnership focused on the development of modern technologies and will mark a new stage in Lithuania-Taiwan economic relations."
During the meeting, the parties agreed to finalize the plan by the end of May and discussed potential project implementation timelines, funding mechanisms, and institutional involvement. The signing of the plan is envisaged for early June.
Head of the Taiwanese Representative Office Constance Wang emphasized: "Based on the solid foundation laid over the past 4 years, Taiwan stands ready to join forces with Lithuanian government to deepen our bilateral cooperation across the fields of economy, technology as well as in a broad range of mutual interests."
Both sides agreed to maintain close dialogue and to move towards the implementation stage in the near future, ensuring that the planned initiatives deliver tangible benefits to both, Lithuanian and Taiwanese economies and contribute to shared strategic objectives.
