Energy UK responds to CCC Progress Report

Responding to the Climate Change Committee's 2026 Annual Progress in Reducing Emissions report to Parliament, Dhara Vyas, Chief Executive of Energy UK, said:

"As we face another record-breaking heatwave, the Climate Change Committee's annual progress report is a stark and timely reminder of the benefits of the energy transition, which will not only reduce our emissions but also bring lower, more stable bills and strengthen our energy security.

"The costs of not taking action on climate change far outweigh the costs of acting, and the case for electrification is only made stronger by recent international energy shocks caused by conflict in the Middle East.

"The relentless focus must now be on switching to electric transport, heating and electrifying our businesses and industries to continue this positive momentum. Comprehensive and stable policy decisions across the energy sector - including maintaining the Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate, quick and efficient delivery of Warm Homes Plan funding, and action on household and business energy costs - are critical for everyone to feel the benefits of the energy transition in their daily lives and in their pockets."
