On Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 9:42 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the 400 block of Northeast Hassalo Street on multiple reports of a man seen without clothing running around holding a handgun. When officers arrived, the man was no longer there, but they did an area check, locating him near Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street. Officers reported hearing a shot fired, and the suspect began running southbound on Northeast Grand Avenue with the gun.

An officer used his police vehicle to strike the armed man, knocking him down and causing him to drop the gun. The man got up and continued running south, where he was challenged by officers on Northeast Holladay Street just east of Northeast Grand Avenue. He was uncooperative with commands and officers successfully used a conducted electrical weapon (Taser) to control him and take him into custody. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. He remains at the hospital in police custody. He will be identified at a later time.
