At the November 11 meeting, Council approved the final plat for the Magnolia Subdivision. The preliminary plat was approved on September 9. The plat includes 25 lots for single-family patio homes, sidewalks within the development and along Barnett Blvd., and planting of at least two four-inch caliper trees in the front yard of each house.
Council approved the detailed site plan for 2150 Village Parkway in The Marketplace at Highland Village. The applicant requested approval of a site plan that had expired for the development of approximately 12,203 square foot building for retail use. The requested site plan is exactly the same site plan that was approved by City Council on December 14, 2021. Since development did not commence within one year, the site plan expired.
Council approved funding for area nonprofit organizations. Each year the council allocates funds to support the nonprofit organizations providing essential services to the residents of Highland Village. City Resolution 2018-2729 sets out guidelines non-profit applicants must meet in order to request funding for community services provided to the residents of the City of Highland Village. The organization's services must be of economic benefit to the community or contribute to the quality of life in Highland Village by serving a municipal public purpose, they must be provided to the citizens of Highland Village on an equal basis and they must enter into a written contract with the City for the provision of services.
The Honor Our Veterans ceremony took place before the Council meeting and honored Thomas Dodge Putney, who served as a Captain in the Air Force from 1981 to 1988. The Veterans Monument is on the south side of the Municipal Complex.
Council appointed Dan Jaworski to continue to serve as the City's representative and City Manager Paul Stevens to serve as the alternate representative on the Denton County Transportation Authority Board of Directors. Jaworski was first appointed in 2023. The terms will expire in 2027.
In October 2025, Council nominated Ann Pomykal and Mike Hennefer as candidates for appointment to the Denton Central Appraisal District (DCAD) Board of Directors. The City received notification from the Chief Appraiser of the Denton Central Appraisal District (DCAD) of the list of candidates, along with the number of votes, based on tax levies, the City is entitled to cast for Board members. City Council cast their votes for Ann Pomykal and Mike Hennefer.
During City Manager and Staff Reports, City Manager Paul Stevens the Village Repor t informed residents of upcoming holiday events, including Our Village Glows, Wine Down with the Grinch, and Christmas at the Ranch.
