Alexandria, Va. - The American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) announces that Bankruptcy Judge Paul Hage (E.D. Mich; Southfield) has been named to a two-year term as ABI Vice President-Research Grants. An ABI member since 2006 and a member of ABI's Board of Directors since 2019, Hage has served as Secretary for ABI's Executive Committee and as the education director of ABI's Emerging Industries and Technology Committee, in addition to belonging to six other ABI membership committees, and he is a co-author of ABI's Conrad B. Duberstein National Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition problem, contributed to the Benchnotes column in the ABI Journal, is an inaugural honoree of ABI's "40 Under 40" program and is a frequent speaker at ABI events.
Hon. Paul R. Hage is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit, sworn in on Sept. 30, 2024. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he was co-chair of the bankruptcy group at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister, LLP, where he practiced for 18 years. Judge Hage is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy. He received his bachelor's degree from James Madison College at Michigan State University, his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and his LL.M. in bankruptcy from St. John's University School of Law.
