INTEREST IN AGRICULTURE CONTINUES TO GROW

With the ever-increasing threats posed by climate change, one thing remains constant - the need to ensure food security.

Interest in agricultural development has continued to grow over the years, with the demand for agricultural assistance also showing a steady rise as individuals and businesses explore opportunities within the sector.<_o3a_p>

This morning, Mr. Kris Prasad of Pherrus Fiji paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Honourable Tomasi Tunabuna, at the Ministry's Headquarters in Raiwaqa.<_o3a_p>

During the meeting, Mr. Prasad expressed his keen interest in livestock development, agricultural processing, and export initiatives. He also discussed potential areas of collaboration that could contribute towards strengthening Fiji's agricultural value chain and supporting the Ministry's efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and food security.<_o3a_p>

Mr. Prasad said that the private sector plays an important role in complementing Government's efforts in achieving agricultural development.<_o3a_p>

"Agriculture is the backbone of any economy, and there is great potential for Fiji to further develop its livestock and processing industries. I believe with the right support and collaboration, we can help boost local production and create export opportunities that benefit both farmers and the economy," he added.<_o3a_p>

Hon. Tunabuna welcomed Mr. Prasad's interest, acknowledging the growing enthusiasm among Fijians and local businesses towards agricultural investment.<_o3a_p>

"It is encouraging to see the private sector taking proactive steps to explore opportunities in agriculture. Partnerships like these are vital to achieving national food security, value addition, and export growth," said Hon. Tunabuna.<_o3a_p>

He further added that the Ministry remains open to exploring innovative and sustainable approaches that support farmers and enhance the resilience of Fiji's agricultural sector.<_o3a_p>
