Mackenzie Carpenter Ponders A Much-Needed Invention On “Heart That Don’t Break”

Today (6.26), ACM-nominated country artist Mackenzie Carpenterdreams up a new invention for the brokenhearted on "Heart That Don't Break," available now via Big Machine Records. Written by Carpenter alongside Nicolle Galyon (Morgan Wallen, Camila Cabello)and Jordan Reynolds (Kelsea Ballerini, Charlie Puth) and produced by Jamie Moore (TobyMac, Florida Georgia Line), the wistful country ballad finds Carpenter wide awake at a quarter 'til two, wondering why a world capable of self-driving trucks, moon landings and every modern convenience still hasn't figured out how to build a heart that doesn't break.

"One day, I got to thinking: with all of the modern inventions and improvements we've made, like self-driving trucks, NA beer, and iCloud - why hasn't somebody figured out how to make a heart that don't break?" said Carpenter. "It might sound like wishful thinking, but this song takes that idea and turns it into something honest, playful and real. Because if there was an upgrade for heartbreak, I think we'd all be in line to buy two."
